Begin with the facility's bill, not a universal increase
There is no single industrial tariff suitable for every Egyptian factory. Activity, supply voltage, tariff period and additional bill items affect the cost. A universal 300% increase is not a valid assumption for your project, and future increases are uncertain.
Check the Egyptian electricity regulator's official website, applicable decisions and your distribution company, then reconcile them with your actual bill. This article explains assessment, rather than replacing an official tariff schedule.
Inputs for a meaningful comparison
- Consecutive electricity bills showing kWh and charges.
- Supply voltage, available capacity and transformer information.
- Shift times, working days and daytime versus nighttime demand.
- Site location, roof types, usable areas, shading and cable routes.
Dividing total charges by kWh produces an average including the recorded bill items. It does not mean every component is avoidable with solar: some charges may remain and need separate treatment.
Production is not automatically cash savings
Estimate production for the site, then compare it with the factory's consumption profile. Energy used when generated has different economics from surplus subject to connection and settlement conditions. Do not assume surplus exports will be approved.
For a purchased system, compare investment with savings after declared operating and maintenance assumptions. Keep financing payments, interest and bank approval separate. Any potential incentive or cashback is a conditional scenario, not an automatic reduction in the contractual price.
Participation and project revenue
Participating in a solar asset differs from buying your own plant. Revenue depends on production, the contracted electricity price, customer payment and costs. A grid tariff increase does not automatically raise distributions; adjustments depend on the contract. Projected distributions are not guaranteed.
What to request
Ask for the tariff and its applicable date, daytime consumption, production-estimate source, costs and sensitivity assumptions. Start with industrial solar costs or a site inspection.
