How Exit Works at pv.direct: Notice, Resale and Capital Return

6 min read2026-02-28

In short

Exit requests require at least 6 months notice and follow the project contract and resale process. Capital return uses the agreed formula (original participation minus annual capital deduction), subject to contract and outstanding obligations.

Participation in a solar asset is a long-term commitment. This article explains step by step how an exit works, so you can plan before you sign.

Step by step

Step 1: Submit an exit request
You submit an exit request to pv.direct. A notice period of at least 6 months applies; the earliest exit date follows from the request date and the contract.

Step 2: Capital-return calculation
The capital return follows the formula agreed in the contract: original participation minus the annual capital deduction for each year held (e.g. 0.5% per year, as set in the contract). Outstanding obligations under the contract are taken into account.

Step 3: Resale
Your share is resold to a new participant through the resale process defined in the project contract. The factory receives 1% of the transaction value, as set in the contract.

Step 4: Payment
The capital return is paid after the resale process under the contract has been completed. The timing therefore depends on that process.

The formula in words

Capital return = original participation − (original participation × annual capital deduction rate × years held), subject to the contract and outstanding obligations.

Distributions received during the holding period are separate from the capital return. They are a projected range — not guaranteed — and depend on energy production, customer payment, costs and the contract.

Loans

Where a loan option is offered for a project, its terms are project-specific and follow the contract.

Before you sign

  • Plan with the notice period in mind: participation is not suitable for money you may need at short notice.
  • Read the exit, resale and capital-return clauses of the project contract.
  • Ask your questions and obtain independent advice if needed.

Important: Projected figures are illustrative only — not guaranteed. Returns depend on energy production, customer payment, costs, contract terms and market conditions. This article is general information, not investment advice.
